Vista doesn't always boot?

I have Vista on my Shuttle and recently it has been having boot up issues. It never gets passed the Shuttle logo the momment I turn the machine on.

I have reset the BIOS a few times, but this hasn't fixed it. I have the most recent BIOS so no need to flash it.

It doesn't happen all the time. There's times where it will boot up with no problem at all so I'm stumped

Any ideas anyone?

Get the HD checked out, I suspect that at the splash screen it's trying to detect the HD.

It could be this. The HD does make an odd sound (one that I havn't heard before) whilst trying to boot?

How would I go about sorting this out? Would replacing a HD with another HD with another OS simply work?
