I installed Vista on my primary hard drive.
I checked in Disk management and it is the system, boot, page file and active partition.

But when i remove my second drive Vista refuses to boot.

I tried doing a repair startup using the vista disk but that didn't do anything

I plug the second drive back in and everything works okay again.

edit- Never mind. Its working now. No idea what I done.

Sounds like the bootloader was installed to wrong hdd.

Yup, which is why I always advise to disconnect all other drives before installing windows. Of course, I learnt the hard way and had a barrell of laughs one evening trying to figure out what on Earth was happening (3 drives I had, each with 2 partitions - I no longer have partitions any longer!)
