Hello all,

Currently my background is set to be a representation of the Earth which slowly rotates and has day/night cycles for time of day. Does anybody know what software is used to create dreamscenes like this and where to get it?

Thanks in advance,
Antar Bolaeisk.

only if you have Ultimate version and you can use AVI or WMI video playback in Dreamscene or your own folder that can work very easily.

I already done in Ultimate x64 SP1 - it look nicely.

Yeah they're horrible things - very gimmicky. Stardock do one that has wavey grass and stuff - kinda cool for a little while but they get boring quick.

i've got the same this as the OP on my media centre, has cloud cover too

it's not buggy (like dreamscene), but is a gimmick :p

will edit this post with the name of it when i get home if no-one adds the name, found it on this forum

you can create your own, any wmv file is selectable (literally any) mpeg is less strenuous on your cpu but unless you want to kill your pc then id stick to ones no longer than 20 seconds long and preferably with no sound (gets really annoying) and pick something thats ok looping, just use windows movie maker works perfectly.

Desktop Earth linky

The Wincustomise Dreamscenes is free to download and works with Home Premium as well.

It's not a modified .avi file either as you can set the speed at which the Earth rotates and day/night is rendered as it's happening.

I really like it but have ideas myself as to what I'd like to have as my background hence wanting to create something myself.

MS has said that Vista DreamScene could be made to do real time 3D back ground in the future.
But the would shaft stardock if they do decide to do it.
