Hi All , I was talking to a P.C guy at work ,and he told me that the only trouble ,or problem that you will face with Vista,is the graphic card & Sound drivers,as a lot of products today work on USB type conection ,and these will work off Windows Vista ,if there not over a certain year old ,he said if its over 5 years old it might not be supported,is this correct ?

Very probable. Depends on how popular the hardware was and whether it used some defacto standard controller/chipset chip. Microsoft provides compatibility drivers for the vast majority of "generic" hardware out there.

It's not in the interests of hardware vendors to produce new drivers for unsupported hardware. They'd rather you went out and bought one of their new products that do support Vista. Sucks, but true.

I'm not entirely sure what your asking but sound and graphics devices will almost all be fully supported with drivers at release. You will need a direct-x 9 capable graphics card to support the new 3d interface in Vista.

I can't see any USB based device not working in Vista as most XP drivers can be used in Vista for things that arn't graphics cards, motherboards etc.

I have found a mixed bunch with my USB devices. My ext HD is fine with Vista, but my Bluetooth dongle is not. "Generic" devices such pen drives and ext HD mice, keyboards etc should be ok, but you may have problems with special usb stuff, such as TV cards, bluetooth. I had the same problem when XP came out and found many newish hardware did not work with XP, or at least did not work as well. I hope they have sorted out the issues with the display shutting down all the time when the final build is released, its driving me nuts!

Hope its right
