Install went without a hitch, much quicker than the chuffing Beta2 upgrade. This is leaps and bounds ahead.

My only two gripes are:

1] I can't work out how to set up a local network and connect with my other PC even though the two are linked by a patch cable [router to mobo] - it was easy in XP, can't see how to do it here.

2] Some of the fonts look a little blurry and almost hurt my eyes. I know this has been addressed before but I can't remember or work out how to solve it.

Apart from that it's all fantastic and Aero looks excellent. The flicking between windows makes me more excited than it probably should :$

How is your network configured? I have a basic Router setup with DHCP and the IP of the PC set to auto assign and it just worked!

As for the blurry fonts - this is probably down to ClearType. I agree with you though - I really don't like them! Thankfully you can turn them off in Vista:

1) Right click on the desktop and click "Personalise"
2) Click "Window Colour and Appearance"
3) Click "Open classic appearance properties for more colour options" (the blue text at the bottom of the page)
4) Click "Effects" on the Appearance Settings dialogue box which shows
5) Uncheck "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts"

That's it - hit "OK" then "Apply" and you'll no longer have blurry fonts!

cool thanks!!

Excellent - worked for me too on the fonts. That Cleartype was awful. You've saved me many headaches.

As for how the network is configured, it's really identical to yours, I just can't see where to start in Vista ahem...

Or keep it checked, but selected the standard method of font smoothing.
