Hi Guys,

Vista 32 bit HP OEM, SP1, all legit. I've noticed that my rating has gone from 4.9 to "Unrated". Clicking "Unrated" brings up a screen which is almost blank. The one piece of text (half of which looks like it should be a link) is non-clickable. I've included snips of the System screen showing the lack of rating, and also the only non-blank part of the resulting page after clicking on Unrated.

SP1 bug?

Any help appreciated - I can't find anything about this online. Every Google search just seems to return hits from Chinese crackers offering apps to "tweak" Vista's rating up to 9.9 for "show" LOL

isn't a bug. mine working fine after sp1. score is 5.9... it isn't really important....

try uninstalling sp1 "if it can" then reinstall it

Why does it say ‘Upgrade Windows Vista’ below ‘Service Pack 1’, surely that shouldn’t be there?

Gareth,

Respectfully, just because it doesn't happen on ALL computers, doesn't mean it's not a bug ;) It's either a bug, or a feature, and I can't see it being a feature LOL :D

Thanks for the replies folks, I'll try the suggested fix now.

it means upgrading from one version of vista to another, im on buisness and if i click the link it gives me options to upgrade to ultimate.
edit: beaten must learn to refresh

Ultimate here hence no upgrade message, just MS trying to make you spend more money.

Have you used Tweak for Vista? There's an option in there that perevent the Experience Index from working correctly.

Some progress, of sorts:

Code:
C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Said log is a MILE long, and I can't find much that seems relevant. I have to admit it's much easier evaluating code in Linux LOL :D I've got the 64 bit media on order, MS said it should be with me in a couple of days now. I'll just hold off and reinstall clean with that and see how I go.

I'm really starting to miss XP LOL

EDIT - Not used V Lite but I did use TweakVI after reading a recommendation on a Vista forum. Forgotten all about that - maybe that fubared something as alluded by DAS? We'll see what happens after a clean install. If this (and other) bugs continue to annoy me I'll just flash back to XP and Fedora and wait a year or so and see how it is then. Thanks again guys.

It sounds like the files that store the index results is corrupt (i had this once),
if you navigate to C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore you will be in a folder with the xml files from previous windows experience scans, if you delete these, restart and re-scan it should go back to normal, at least it did for me (these are the files that can be tweaked to alter the index score)

everytime there is something on here that criticises vista i see your fanboy sig, are you on bill gates's payroll?

ps
oh yes it is

just coming out with words like cack & crap is not criticising , its just being stupid.;)

This happened to me before and i was just looking for the link that tells you how to fix it, but Baked has pretty much summed it up.

EDIT: As a side note, does anyone know if the WEI goes above 5.9? I get the same score for my Quad at stock speed and at the overclock in my sig. Everything else is at 5.9 as well. Not that it matters...

I'm fairly sure 5.9 is the maximum at the moment!

Hello Rainmaker, how is it going with resolving this issue that you are experiencing? :)

I have also installed Service Pack 1 and can't say that I have experienced anything like you have.

I would also like to apologise to the Dons for turning this thread into something that it's not. :)
