Vista File Previews

Is anyone else having the issue on Vista Ultimate X64 where MPEG file previews are not working? When for example I choose dreamscene to set it as my background it doesnt actually show a preview picture of a file in the window. This is also the same for all my videos on my hard drive in the videos folder. Does anyone know how to make it refresh all of the previews?

Cheers for those mate but I think after reading up on google a bit its related to Nero

Found a registry fix im going to try when I get home anyway

Let us know what happens. I use Nero and have the same issue. Although the codec packs listed sound good too. I use a codec package called CCCP or something similar, I think it stands for Combined Community Codec Package.

But as I said the links above sound more related to my needs so I will look/wait to see if people reply and give there opinion.

Downloaded the 2 files listed above and had problems...

Watched a video encoded with matroska, went to watch the next episode (encoded the same way) and it would not load the video. Ended up going back to CCCP.

Looks like the Vista packs have some bugs or corrutped settings and or a messed up setting on one of the files.

Then again it is a beta

The registry fix I found worked

the only thing was it told me some of the entries could not be merged due to them being in use but still after a reboot all my previews instantly worked again. Will post a link when I get home later.

This is the fix I found. All you need to do is open notepad copy and paste the following text in, save as a .reg file with any filename and doubleclick it to merge it into the registry. It might say it cannot merge some of the data (it did for me) but after a reboot my thumbnails returned
