Should i buy a flash drive for my vista upgrade or dont bother as i have 2gb of ram already.

Thank`s.

Even with 2GB of RAM I find that having a 1GB flash drive in the back of my PC does help application startup times. As they only cost £10 you might as well get one.

I got a 1gb PNY attache for £8 purley for readyboost and its true applications load up faster most noticable media centre, but bar that i have seen no difference in stuff like fps, rendering times etc...

my pny attache won't work as a readyboost drive, it said it doesn't meet spec.

Yep u need a readyboost flashdrive......as far as i can can tell....not just any usb2 flash drive. I can see the manufacturers cashing in on this!

got a kingston 2gb readyboost branded one the other day for £13.99 and it does seem to help. Although nvidia released a SATA driver on windows update the same day so that may have helped me also :)

I got myself a "Corsair TurboFlash 1GB USB2.0 Vista ReadyBoost" drive as well. Certainly seems to speed things up slightly, but noticeably, compared to just having the RAM. And as said above, they only cost a few quid so it doesn't hurt to get one anyway.

I called OCUK with a querie and whilst they were on the phone i asked them a question about ram as i have had problems with photoshop saying "I dont have enough memory to perform this operation" I got 2 gig of pc2 8500 1066mhz and was only working with files of a few meg. I was just ready to buy another 2gig at almost 200quid when OCUK suggested trying the 1g corsair turboflash drive @ £15.26. Hats of to OCUK for NOT just taking my money. I will be playing with photoshop to see if the problem persists and going by this thread, many folk seem to have noticed drastic improvements
