Currently on XP Home at the mo and thinking of upgrading to Vista Home premium. There was a lot of talk that there was a performance decrease in games, but that was when Vista was just brang out so was wondering if these issues have been resolved? Main game I will be playing is CSS.

My games are running fine atm, much, much better than a couple o' months ago.

What spec system do you have?
 
Agreed, my install of Vista and a fresh install of XP sp2 give almost identical performance in 3d mark and FPS in games. Drivers have caught up now. Vista performs better at opening browser, Outlook, MP etc due to superfetch. Having 4 gb ram helps as well.
 
I don't have any benchmarks, but I've been impressed with gaming speed on my low-end Athlon PC with only 1 GB RAM. Even demos of new games cope surprisingly well.
