Just thought i would start a post on how im getting on with this,

Have been using vista beta 2 more and more since its release and although it still has sluggish moments its actually very usable.

In recent days i have played Company of heroes and the new joint task force demo flawlessly on vista with no probs what so ever. I have been unable to run Fifa world cup or C&C generals but as these are both Ea Games this comes as no great shock  .

Anyone else had any issues with games on vista, Its good to know that the newest games seem to work already??

no, Microsoft have said this game has become obsolete and will not be supported  :p

how to win friends and influence people.. is there not a compatibility mode like in XP that you can run the software in?

hmm the whole thing about vista is its meant to perform great with games apparently because of some new design...in the beta form this does not appear to be the case

I have beta 2 as well and its the desktops cpu usage that worries me! I have only tried fs x demo so far for games, this ran fine.

The biggest problem I can see is with all the fancy graphics etc switched on the desktop has a big impact on performance it uses up about 400+ mb ram on desktop alone.

Im sure it makes an impact on games but will have to see how RC1 compares, I havent ran any benchmarks but i am happy with the performance of games that i have had working.

Is it not somewhere here i read that free momory is wasted memory?
Suppose its 400mb of textures u could have loaded up in BF2

Have a read up on how vista uses memory - its not anywhere near as bad as you think, its not just sitting there spread out over 5-600Mb of ram. :)
