Hello all!

Came home today and brother told me the electric ran out and upon booting the pc it hangs a few minutes after login.

The system is a prebuilt HP machine with an E8400 and an 8800gtx added by myself after.

All was well until the juice cut out, it boots vista and all works as intended then suddenly the blue spinny turns up and the screen goes cloudy (as vista does)

Now in safe mode no troubles at all it runs like a watch. Im assuming it may be a startup program corruption so i assume i should try disabling all the startup progs first to find a culprit.

System restore is a no go as i turned it off to save disk space (doh!)

Obviously ill just do a full restore if it comes to it, just wondering if its a known problem with a fix?

Thanks all

Lee

will last known config work as it boots fine just hangs,

will vista realise theres a problem? what has to happen for a config to be flagged as good by vista?

Thanks

Remove as mush as possibly, ie all external things like Printer/Scanner /IPOD all that crap and if no help try removing everything but 1 stick of ram and GPU (check to see if a card is needed reseated 1st).

May even need a full reset of Cmos inc battery out (don't overlook anything even if its not been movie or touched).
