Hi all, just built a new system, core 2 duo, P5W DH deluxe, 2GB Geil , 8800 GTS, and an Enermax Liberty 500W psu. I installed a copy of 64 bit ultimate OEM on it. Now, it has a probelm whereby, If I leave the pc on, i.e downloading a program like I did over night yesterday, I come back after a couple of hours and its just stuck. USB light on the mouse is off, keyboard light is on. Screen is froze, all fans are running.

I press reset, and it turns the pc off. When it boots back up, nothing happens, no post or anything, though all the fans come on. So I have to reset the CMOS on the motherboard. This is becoming very frustrating:(

Any ideas?

sounds like its failing when atempting to go into sleep mode

maybe put the "go to sleep" option to "never" in power management ?

Tried that, put every single option I could in power management to either off or never! But seems not to have cured the problem. Most frustrating, considering I have spent over a grand on it ;/

have you disabled the power management in the bios as well

and has this only started happenning since you installed vista ? and you're not overclocking your CPU or anything are you ?

seems very weird that when you reboot the PC it doesnt post and you have to clear CMOS. that would seem to point to an actual fault with yourd hardware.

I tried that before, but I have not done so atm because I had to clear it all and just loaded defualts. I will go in to bios and change them. I have to go out later so I might leave an application running see what happens.

Have not tried XP on this sysem, was a clean build with vista. CPU, ram etc is all at stock speeds.

I dont understand why It would work fine, as in now, but then die when left to its own devices. Hmmm
