What the hell is Vista CONSTANTLY using my hard drive for. All of a sudden, i can be doing nothing in particular, and it constantly uses my hard drive, when i try to do anythign else, it becomes choppy and slow and refuses to run other programs. WTF is going on? Its not my AV, and its not indexing service as i turned that off to check. It wont even shut down anymore, as it is constantly accessing the hard drive and wont let it shut down.

Wish I could help you pal, but I have no idea. I am considering buying Vista over XP so am I advised not to if your having problems

My new vista install was accessing the hard disk a lot in the first few hours and then stopped.

Maybe leave your pc on tonight and let it do its thing.

Is it worth buying over XP then as I am in process of building new PC and want it solely for games but if it has issues then I wont bother and will stick to XP

Cough Cough.

Vista is fine for games, ive been playing all the steam games and bf2142 without any problems (except since patch v1.25 where it now claims im modifying my content).

That happens to me in XP aswell sometimes, so it's not a Vista only issue, think it's down to modded servers that cause this.

If you are a gamer you are going to need Dx10 soon which is only on Vista.

You may have some teething issues with vista (in particular drivers) but long term it is worth it.
