Its weird, when I first installed Vista I found it a really stable OS, as of late its been crashing like crazy.

Im using the latest Nvidia 64 drivers and im forever getting error messages mostly when playing films telling me that my video driver has stopped working, and im even getting the odd total lock up. Anyone else having issues with the latest drivers?

Im also having problems with my X-Fi sound card, keep gettign vista trying to install drivers, which it cant and then coming up with this.

Windows Vista does not support YAMAHA DS-XG PCI Audio CODEC (WDM) and Gameport

This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between Windows Vista and YAMAHA DS-XG PCI Audio CODEC (WDM) and Gameport.

YAMAHA DS-XG PCI Audio CODEC (WDM) and Gameport was created by Yamaha.

Its weird my sound works and the sound card is defo installed, must be just the game port bit.

one other weird problem as well, when i leave my pc on for an hour or so, ill start getting this weird bleep about every 10-15 secs or so, its like the noise you hear when windows finds new hardware, im guessing its to do with the sound card issue but its really begining to pee me off.

Dont know what to do other then a full re-install of windows, iv tried unistalling the graphics drivers and sound drivers, moving the sound card to a differant slot. its a strange one.

i can't install the Gameport too.. i just install the "unsupported game port for creative" driver...

Because gameports are from the time of ISA buses...

Oh and if some security flaw turned up in the code for gameports everyone would be asking why they didn't strip it out in Vista. Basically Microsoft are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Its tough having a virtual monopoly on OS supply.
