Vista- hating it after 2 days

+1 for turning off the UAC... it drives me insane asking me if I'm sure I really want to open the program I just clicked on...

I loved Vista from the day I installed it right up to the day I started beta testing Win7... Now I'm so desperate for a copy of 7 that I'd sell/swap one of my kids for it lol

(anyone want a 2 year old?)

Well, put 7 on there to test if the problems would go away... they did, but I have another set of problems in their place :p

The (known good) USB wireless dongles will now crash after about 5 mins of use... will have to spend tomorrow figuring out why. And by crash, I mean solid green light instead of flashing; downloads stop; pages don't load. Tray apps fail to recognise an adaptor, but interestingly enough, Windows reports that it's still connected to a network. Bytes sent and recvd do not increment.

Unplugging/ replugging does nothing; restart is needed.

I went through the usual horrors and headaches of Vista, but in truth, the issues are now all pretty much gone and ocne you have SP2 on, I really dont thin kthere is any reason to blame it anymore.

I have not bothered to upgrade my Server since thats running Vista64Prem just fine.

I think that its down to User / Hardware too.

( oops - pressed send too soon )

Anyway, when you install, have you sent the Motherboard to SETUP DEFAULTS and have you installed to a nice clean Partition?

Not doing the SETUP DEFAULTS can do all sorts of icky stuff that may or may not rear its ugly head.

either

1) you have less than 1.5 gb ram
2) you drive is faulty
3) you have 2 (or more) av programs installed
4) your drive is failing
5) you have very slow CPU
6) you have a virus
