Vista HD spin up time

Hi,

Dont know if anyone else has noticed this or if my 34gig Raptor boot drive is on its way out.

The hard drive seems to go into standby mode when it hasnt been used for a short period. then when i try and access it Vista pauses, you hear the HD spinning up and everything is back to normal for a while.

Trouble is it does this all the time and is getting to be a right pain in the jacksy.

anyone got any ideas?

thats normal if you have the hdd set to spindown when not in use.
the default in vista is to turn the hard drives off after 20 mins if not in use

how do I change it, iv looked in the advanced power settings mode and it says it should do it after 20mins, its doing it more often than that though ?

I noticed this in the Beta when surfing the internet. Sounded really bad as it would spin down and spin up as soon as it stopped. There is an option there under destroying the earth or something along the lines. There isn't an option to just turn that feature off though.
