Im confused about the HD functionality in Vista, am i right in thinking i will need a HD screen for my PC to get the absolute best out of Vista?

might want to wait for some other replies. I though MS had to introduce HD protection. In otherwords, if you dont have a HD graphics card and a HD monitor you wont be able to play HD DVD's?

Hdcp ict wont be used until 2010 at least. :)

If you want a monitor that will display true HD, it must support a native resolution of 1920x1080 or higher , checking the 20inch monitor section, i think only the Dells support this.

If you want to be able to view HiDef content from HDDVD and Blueray (possibly more in the future) then you will also need the display to support HDCP for any content which is protected by the ICT (Image Constraint Token).

As already mentioned i think most movie studios have agreed not to implement that until around 2010. However if there protection is partially broken quickly, then expect to see the ICT rushed into service to try and combat it.

You can make a perfect copy of any film copy protection or not so I really doubt they would start implementing ict even if aacs was cracked.

Personally I wouldn't bother with 1920x1080 unless you have a 26" display or bigger, otherwise you won't notice the difference.

i never intend to watch tv through a computer monitor, have my HD TV downstairs for that ;)

just want to make sure that the monitor i have will run Vista and its applications in all their glory.
