I installed Vista Home premium last night, and i woke up and i cant see the media center application anywhere?

The whole reason i brought this was to use the media center but i cant find it anywhere, have i missed something?

It should just be installed, something's gone very wrong if it's not there. It's just plain on the start menu, under Windows Media Centre.

If you really can't find it, make sure you installed the right version - if you install without a CD key and choose the wrong version it might not be there.

I definately have Home Premium and i did choose to install without the serial key. May buy Vista Ultimate see if that works.

I don't quite understand what you meant there - are you sure you installed Home Premium? (Look at the login screen and so on). If you did, there's no point in buying Ultimate, both have Media Centre.

Should be there on Home Premium. When I got my disc (ultimate) I installed each version (home basic, home premium, business) because I was curious. It was certainly on Home Premium when I installed.

I recommend re-installing before buying another copy of Vista.

hit winkey+r then type winver and hit return. If it doesn't look like this:

you've installed the wrong one

If you didn't enter a serial key during the initial setup process, Vista doesn't know what to install and has probably only installed the Basic version or something of a mish-mash between all three. (Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate).

There's no way it would know what version you have without the key.

When you install Vista, you choose which version to install whether you enter the validation code or not and it install which ever version you selected.

I stand corrected. Merci, monsieur.
