Vista HP - Windows 2000 Remotely

I have a Win 2k SP4 system I want to remotely control using Vista.

Is VNC the only way ?

I want to try Remote Desktop, however am I correct in saying that you cant serve that from 2k ?

It looks great too, VNC is a bit jerky, but RD is like actually using the PC, from what I've seen at work

I've connected to Server 2k before from my laptop on Vista using remote desktop.. Worked fine for me!

Assume W2K is the same as Server 2K..

No you can't RDP onto Win2k pro, only Win2k Server. VNC is your only option I believe.

I used that ages ago and, at the time, I found it to be the smoothest. Don't know if that is still true today. You can always give the free trial a spin.

logmein, gives similar desktop experience to remote desktop (but works more like vnc)

very usable, and free

personally i only use remote desktop on my machines, but i've used logmein through work a lot (easier than getting clients to forward ports for RD to work)

also, if you stick to vnc, use the 'realvnc' viewer, it's standalone and works better than many others
