Hi,

I've just ordered Vista Ultimate from OcUK which should be arriving at some after the bank holiday, my question is this -

What's the crack with RAID drivers/SATA drivers and Vista??
Is it still a case of needing drivers on cd in advance?

It's been so long since I reformatted my machine I've forgotten what I did tbh!! I can remember however, it was a bit of a chew on.

I've got 2x74gig raptors set in Raid 0 as my C drive, a 160gig SATA drive as my D drive and 500 gig external Western Digital My Book thingy.

My mind has gone completely blank with what I need to do!!!!

Anyone care to advise me please.........???

Cheers

As far as i remember from the beta days Vista is extremely forgiving when it comes to raid drivers. So long as you have the drivers present on some sort of media (floppy/cd/dvd/USB) you should be set. Have a look on your motherboard manufacturers website for the drivers.

Vista has most raid drivers inc and will detect your array on installation. Your NVraid will work fine without having to mess about loading drivers for it.

Hi,

I was just looking for this very info. Well near enough.

I just upgraded my motherboard to a Gigabyte GA_P35_DS4. I was going to do a fresh install of my Vista Ultimate but it booted up with no problems so I just updated all the drivers and removed the old stuff.

Looking in the manual it says that I need drivers on a floppy to set my hard drives up as AHCI mode. I didn't think this was the case but when I go Control Panel it shows my hard drives as running under the the IDE controller not the SATA one.

I tried changing the Bios option to AHCI but the system just says no hard drives found.

I take it this means to get my hard drives to work as they should I would need to do a fresh install of Vista and it would pick up the drivers automatically?

Thanks for any help
