Hi,

Just built a new system today, all bought from ocuk:

Q6600
Abit IP35
4Gb Corsair
150Gb Raptor
8800GTX

Trying to install Vista x64 and when it starts for the 1st time then reboots again it fails! If I leave the dvd in it just goes back to the installation start. If I take it out it just says invalid boot disk.

The dvd was burnt myself from an image direct from microsoft.

I have tried all my voltages etc, boot prioritys, default settings etc.

Do you think I have a corrupt disk and should redownload? just seems unlikely.

I have built and installed many pc's over the years, but as always its a new one on me. Very frustrating when I just want to play with my new machine.

Cheers.

Remove a stick of memory and see if it works. If it does then you can reinsert the stick when the install has completed.

The Vista installer can take a dislike to 4gb.

this is a known issue with this board and raptors, the same thing happens to mine.

you can try installing the chipset drivers during the install, some say this works, didnt for me. theres another fix of writing zeros to the drive first.

another option is getting a new hdd :(

Thanks.

Tried another HDD and it worked 1st time!! Cant believe things like this get through QC.

I will try and mirror the image of the old hdd to the raptor.
