Depends on your system specs really :p its a lot quicker then XP to install 10-15 mins or there abouts.

Wow you must have a heck of a super PC to get that kind of install time. I have X2 3800, 3GB ram and 200gb Samsung SATA2 hard drive. Expect about 45mins to an hour from starting setup to a usable desktop.

45 Mins  something is seriously wrong with your PC if that’s the case, I can say 100% I installed vista on a P4 which took 15/20 mins to install.

/I ant going to tell tales about installing a OS ;)

something's wrong there?

of course installing/configuring drivers takes a good while, but just a bog standard windows install takes me 15 minutes as well. single core 32bit cpu with 2gb of ram here. sata2 drive but my mobo only supports sata. my rig is pretty ancient by todays standards - 4 year old mobo and 2 year old cpu. :D

So you're all saying that from booting from the DVD to a usable desktop, it only takes 15 mins?! Sorry but I call bullcrap on this. I've installed Vista on 5 different PCs, and not one has been anywhere near 15 minutes from start to finish.

On my AXP3200(Nf7/X800), it took about 40 mins to install from dvd. its the extraction process at the start takes along while before the percentage starts to move. after about 20 mins it gets to the part where it looks completly installed, then decides to open the advert screen telling me about features its installing. this takes about 20-30 mins too. a little over an hour overall once its downloaded the odd update and reset a few times.

XP in comparison takes around 30 mins to install from cd (slipstreamed sp2) and maybe another 30 mins or so to download and apply win patches and manualy install drivers. The initial install is deffinatly faster in XP, but it has to be noted that vista doesnt support nForce2 very well which is why vista is quite slow on this machine. gaming isnt practicle and especially halo2 runs much better under winxp on this machine. (Not tried vista on signiture config)

mine took a solid 30 mins to get to desktop, then another 20 mins to turn off UAC and other security "precautions" so i didn't build up the will to chuck my monitor out of the window the next time it asked me permission to open a program :D
