Just finished building my new gaming rig and had figured 'might aswell get vista while im here', alas all is not well as ive just spent most of my evening trying to get vista to install but the furthest ive got is 'Completing Installation' which is normally signified by a BSOD that flashes up so fast i cant see the error and then i reboot, trying to let vista restart and carry on with the install just brings up an error saying it cant, and so the endless vista install cycle continues.

My rig is as follows:
Intel Q6600
EVGA 680i SLi (rev. A1)
4 Gig Crucial Ballistix PC6400
EVGA 8800 GTS
Creative X-Fi Music
Netgear WG311 Wifi adaptor
3 400G WD HDD's in Raid 0

So far ive tried updating the bios to p30, messing around with memory clocks (read on one forum that works, so far its helped get the install a little further), disabling the HPET in the bios, removing 1 gig of RAM.

At this point im willing to try anything so any/all suggestions are welcomed :)

Try installing with only 2gb of ram,if that fails try removing the X-FI card,if that fails try installing with one HD only ,also run memtest86+.

I think the X-Fi and 4Gb of RAM is a common problem over on the creative forums, the fact you have an 8800 GFX card dosent help either as i have problems in my machine using an X-Fi and an 8800

So id remove the x-fi forst then try the install again - if that fails also remove 2gb RAM and see if that works. Hopefully one of those should do the trick
