Could someone please explain what is causing this error and how to resolve it.

At the moment IPv4 has a static address and IPv6 is automatic.

Is is saying I should use either v4 or v6 but not both?
Or do I need static address for v6

Thanks

It's saying neither - it's saying you've got more than one default gateway set, and it'll break things (presumably the machine's not getting a network connection).

If you click the Advanced button at the bottom of the IPv4 properties box, there'll be a Default Gateways box in the window that opens (one should be the one you set in that screenshot, the second one will probably be 0.0.0.0). Delete the one you don't want.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I am getting a network connection, it's just I do not understand why I am getting this error.

The attachment below shows the advanced tab with only the one Default Gateway so the problem I guess is else where.

Hm, odd. I usually get that error when Vista craps out and thinks I want the default gateway to be 0.0.0.0 as well as what I've set manually.

Maybe check the other interfaces (if you've got any) to see if they have more than 1 default gateway set.

Can you run ipconfig/all in a dos window and post the output for your interfaces?
Blank out your MAC addresses too...

Thanks for the suggestion. It made me look closer at the IPconfig

I noticed that I have both Marvell Yukon and Realtek drivers installed. Whilst the Realtek was disabled is the "Network Connections"
I had not disabled it in the Device manager.
Doing this stopped the problem

Now that I have IPv4 sorted and it has a specific address.
Does everyone leave IPv6 set to automatic?
