Hi,

I'm getting a very strange issue on Vista64 that I can't seem to find a resolution for!

When I try to open 'Network and Sharing Center' or the Control Panel and some other screens I get the screen below:

I've tried everything I can think off and everything i've seen on the net but nothing seems to solve it. I did a fresh install about a week ago and everything worked fine until this morning. I haven't changed anything in the last few days and I can't think of anything that could have caused it.

Does anybody know of any solutions or reasons it's happened?

Regards

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already tried this in the past and have just tried it again but it doesn't give me any errors. It says that everything is fine!

sorry for the bump but this has just happened to me and I was about to start a thread, i did a search and came across this one.

I get the same, however the window will open with no icons and then close again without any input from me. i can still access the CP via windows explorer and the functionality works ok.

in my limited research exploits so far, it would appear to be related to either nvidia drivers or some other software over-writing something in Vista. There is a fix which involves starting and stopping services, but that didn't work for me, the services cannot find their related processes or something. (i have not tried the other link in this thread though)

i've now also got an issue with windows update (i'm assuming they're related) - i get a really useful "unknown error" with a number which googling brings up nothing useful.

i've done the usual virus and spyware scanner malarky which showed no issues so I'm at a loss really!

here are the links I've found so far:

I've not tried any of these fixes so I don't know if they work - use at your own risk etc

I should say this is on Vista x64 Home Premium, Q6600 and 8800 GTX
