Vista just RTM'd

Said I would post this here over all the excitement with DX10 and the G80.

Amd maybe this has been posted already, but Vista RTM'd at around 7.30 this evening. OEM's are pulling the code across now and performing downloads as I write this.

RTS for volume customers is 1st December now, with the general public getting it on the 30th Jan. But if any OEM releases Vista between now and end Jan which is very likely, then all OEM's will break the embargo and ship. So I would not be surprised if Vista in fact shipped this month!!

I doubt it will ship this month. In fact i'd be shocked if it shipped pre-Christmas.

Think about it, if anyone broke the date this early, Microsoft would have their ghoulies on a platter.

Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't.

Gateway broke the embargo for XP and made a killing. And MS fined nobody. There is too much money at stake and each OEM is actually waiting to see what the other will do. Not speculation.

There is a good chance that some OEM suppliers will release early for christmas sales.... regardless of what Microsoft want.
