Just had vista 5days now and allreayd hate it
it keeps saying i have new hardware installed on start-up and can take me an age to bi-pass it (i think this may due to me trying to install new sound drivers after the sound wasnt playing....only to find out that it was set to the wrong thing)
allready two times in the past half hour Ive had two blue screen of restarts
and desktop, internet, keeps restarting with that annoying vista pop up.

anything iam doing wrong?
is this at all fixable?

Have you got SP1 installed, is the system overclocked and are you using the latest Vista drivers for all your hardware?

What version of Vista are you using? and what spec is your Machine?

We need a lot more information to try and help you.....

Try taking 4GB of the ram out, I have a feeling the motherboard does not fully support 8GB or the new quad cores or some of the ram is duff.

Take two stick of memory out leaving the other two memory sticks in matching combos for instance RAM - NO RAM - RAM - NO RAM if you still have issues then change then swap the ram for the stuff you took out. If you still have issues reinstall vista download the latest drivers for the motherboard off the gigabyte site, download the latest drivers for your graphics card too.

if you want to see those error messages, then:
control panel --> System-->Advanced System settings
Under Startup and Recovery click settings
Under System Failure uncheck automatically restart.
OK.
sorrry, no clue how to get to this point faster.

edit: oh and whats veoh?

Personally I really wouldn't trust the 965 chipset with a 45nm quad, I know gigabyte say it will work
Intel Core™ 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz 12MB Yorkfield 45nm C1 95W 1333 F12
(Non official support)
but after all its not what Intel designed the chipset for I would really get something newer P35/P45/x38/x48 etc.

Oh and just becuase somebody knows MS inside out doesnt mean they know thier P35 from thier 440BX :p

Sorry to hijack, but is this right?

I have a P5B, which has a 965 chipset, and was planning on upgrading my E6600 to a Q9450, or the next one up. It says it's supported on the Asus website, so thought nothing more about it.

I have Vista x64 Ultimate OEM tied to this Mobo, so don't really want the extra expense of buying a new Mobo and Vista, when I thought the new CPU would just slot in. If the new Q9450 etc aren't fully compatible, I may have a rethink, and go back to my idea of a Q6600.

Vin.

=/
cheers

not sure what iam gonna do, dont have the pennies just yet.
i didnt install the sponsor support for msnplus
i never do, even like google toolbars or what ever i never chose to install them

yeah, was thinking i'll do that
ive still got my old one up and running.

i know when he listed everything, i think it was something like:
q6600 (but also got a q9450 available)

so maybe he was only using the q66 for the server.

also for when/if i need to reinstall.
i got 4x500gb hard-drives
have it raid0+1?
