Hi, ive just assembled a new pc consisting of:

core2quad q6600 g0
2gig corsair xms2 ram
gigabyte p35c ds3r
250gb western digital sataII hdd
500gb samsung hdd
512mb geforce 8600gt
samsung dvd-rw sata

now everything is fine and the pc starts no worries, load up the bios and it can see both hard drives and the dvd drive great. ive got the dvd on sata master 0 and the 250gb hdd on sata master 1 and finally the 500gb hdd on sata slave.

now when i load up the vista home premium install disc it will only see the 500gb hard drive, but it wont install on it at all. ideally i want to install vista on the 250gb one but it just cant find that for whatever reason. it asks for a driver and ive put in the motherboard disc and the vista disc, scanned, and it comes back with nothing.

any ideas guys?

cheers

There is no master and slave with SATA so it shouldn't matter which ports you use.
The purple ones use the JD micron controller and the orange are intel.
In the bios, i have the 'SATA Port 0-3 Native Mode - 'Disabled'.
Try different sata modes in the bios.

I have the same board as you and have no probs using the orange ports with 3 HDD's.
Have you tried swaping the cables? could be damaged, could try dissconecting the 500gb drive till after installation.
