Behind you... Naked!
Right, had this issue before.

Disk 1 = Raptor 36GB
Disk 2 + 3 = 250GB WD
Disk 4 = 80GB

Now, Disk 1 you can see is marked as BAD, its now got XP on, but its iffy.
Disk 2 seems ok, but check out the disk name?
Similarly, the name on Disk 4 ( F: ) is also messed up, but more so, the disk itself is an 80GB and XP now thinks its a 160GB and cannot access the partition on it, which might I add was a perfectly workign XP64 install that has my importand data on, but now I cannot get at?

Any ideas?

Well, its now 5am and Im now running a very knackered XP32 install.

Somehtign else keeps going wrong, the 80GB that kind of turned into a 160GB is now showing 80GB again but it no longer reads its files under

2000 ( SP4 ), XP Home SP1 + SP2, XP Pro SP2, XP64 SP1 and SP2, Vista Ultimate 32 or 64 Bit clean or upgraded from XP.

And I have tried them all now.

I even took the HD out, threw Ultimate 64 onto another PC upstairs just to try to get access to the files, but no!

Worse thing is, that in the My Docs folder, is all my Accounts since April, and all my EMails from JAN-01-2007

So, a bit miffed.

I am not touching the Disk itself as I have not actually done a thign to it, it has been Vista that did this, not me.

The Raptor is a replacement HD because the last time it went silly, I was unable to restore it, and even WD said that Vista can do this... Its done it again, so Im going to take them to my solicitors to make MS recover my stuff.

Im sure that since WD replaced my drive rather than fix it after trying to install Vista on it, and then for the very same thign to happen again, there must be a reason behind it surely?

Its obvious that Vistas idea of a disk format is different to XP's but then XPs is different to 2K too if you remember.

I bloody well hate Vista now.

Im going to make a point on how much I hate it by selling all 3 of my Vista packs on the bay for something like a fiver!!!!!

I had a similar problem,

This is what i did:

Uninstalled partition magic and sold it.

Format the disks from vista disk manager, and run full scan and fix bad sectors.

Fixed

Might not work for you but worked for me.

I used to swear by Partition Magic but as of late i've found its just caused problems, and dosent like working on vista. Just imo.

good luck

LOL Well, yeah I got rid of it from my Vista PC.

I found that once Vista has touched any partition, XP can sometimes have issues with it.

For example, I install Vista o a HD then I decide to have XP instead, and during the install, I format the partition, put XPs files back on and reboot... What happens?... It will fail to boot.

The only way around this is to remove the partition and re-create and format it with the XP install procedure otherwise you cannot boot from it?

Poor.

Anyway, yesterday ( or was it the day before? ) I chucked my Retail of Vista32 Ultimate onto the AMD ( On that right now as it happens ) and Im planning on running it for as long as I possibly can, try to force myself into it a bit more and some things have been nice and some bad. I have foudn cures for some things and not for others, and at this moment, I only really have a couple of grip[es, but at least at this moment in time, the partition issues are NOT one of them.
