Vista+Laptops

Does anyone else think that the battery runs down realllyyyy fast on laptops when you're using Vista??

On XP my dell inspiron 5150 would last around 2 hours, now on Vista it lasts like half an hour max!

I have the power plan set to 'Balanced'

I have a Pavillion DV2310US, It came pre installed with vista home preimum and I found that the power was lasting about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I had a hunt around the internet and found choosing power saver dramatically increases this, I also found turning blue thooth off added an extra hour to the life. I now get about 2 hours 50 minutes with the screen brightness on low

Using Vista's Power Management, I can squeeze 4+ hours out of my Dell Inspiron 640M ( Power Saver setting, with screen brightness turned right down ). On Full Performance, it lasts and hour and a half..... Balanced seems to be around 3 hours.

yer i have all the drivers installed.

and actually i was amazed that the drivers for my belkin pre n wireless card actually worked on vista! it wouldn't install directly from the cd but when i pointed vista to the drivers they installed

they wouldn't work at all in the BETA vesions, which i was gutted about.

i have set it to power saver and now get like 90 mins out of it which still isn't that brilliant.
maybe my battery is just a bit dead
or this laptop is working wayyy too hard to cope with vista! lol

i'll have a fiddle with some more settings see what i can get out of it

I get around an hour to an hour and a half on performance; I've not tested the power saving function yet..

i'm getting my first laptop in a few weeks time. Getting a ADVENT 7211 LAPTOP. It has 2ghz processor with 1mb cache, 100gb hdd, 1gb RAM. Very decent for £70 (got it in the a competitor offer. It is £429.99 without the offer)
It says the battery will last 1.5hours, could i squeeze more out of it using power saver etc etc

(sorry for stealing the thread btw i just didn't see the point in making another thread to ask the same question)

That's the second time I've had to remove a competitor from your posts in as many days.
