Quick one - im using Vista Media Center (x64) and want to be able to play XVid files through it. I can seem to get it working in WMP but just not in Media Center...it just gives me a "Codec not installed" (or something along those lines) message when trying to view them.

Have had a Google around and many people seem to think ffdshow etc works, but the version i tried didnt give me any luck.

Can anyone help?

TIA :)

In my 32bit copy ,

I used a vistacodecpackage and everythign works in MCE including HD .mkv

embedded DD/DTS isn't a problem either.

Gave one of them a try also and had no luck :(

I've found a different version of ffdshow im going to try, do you have a link to the Vista codec pack your using as i'll give that a try in case its different to the one i tried?

glad thats sorted there,

I installed vista codec pack on a fresh install so codec conflicts were experienced.

Bit of a bumpage here. I've been trying various tools across the net to get xvid to play in Media Center- and it worked first time after installing those two programs.

Many, many, many thanks!
