Hi, not sure if this is the best forum, or the Home Cinema...

I currently have MCE 2005 installed on my media centre, recently got a Nova S2 card, but unable to get Freesat working. MCE crashes when it is doing the channel scan. (Used the hauppauge patch).

No idea why, but cannot get it working. I have been reading about Vista and this release called Fiji, which is supposed to have support for DVB-S. I'm not sure if I want to shell out for Vista, or which version to get. Is Fiji part of vista, or a version of vista, and any idea when it will be released?

My Spec:
AMD Sempron 2800
1GB DDR Ram
X800 256MB Gfx

Will I be able to run vista ok? Have no intention of running HD on this setup.

Thanks

vista home premium 32bit is what you want for that spec (has media centre)

i'd whack another 1gb in mind

fiji is an update to it that isn't officially out yet, (i think its around 30mb), you can download it from certain sites though i think

.... an update that's going to be OEM only, thus alienating a large number of Media Centre users, just like they originally did with MCE at first!

Not legally available really, and to be honest it's not got much appeal for me since they ripped out h.264 support in the release version, so no BBC HD via Media Centre for now. Humph.

don't listen to them... fiji is fantastic.

plus find the beta dll and hd works for a while

I'd consider it if there were programs which could edit the recorded programmes. VideoReDo can't access the new format (WTV) yet. I don't bother encoding the files into another format for archiving, so being able to just edit the original as it is is quite important to me. That's all that will stop me from giving it a go.
