Vista media centre help

Hello
I have got windows vista ultimate 64 and i am having problems playing avi files in media centre. I have tryed all sorts of codecs including ffdshow and vista codecs and it still will not work. When i tell media centre to look in the folders with avi files in, it says that there is nothing there.
Can anyone help?

You need the Vista Codec Pack x64 Components. MC is a 64-bit program, so none of the usual stuff will work.

Just installed that but im still having the same problem.
Do i need to uninstall any codecs and if so how do i uninstall them?

Uninstall all other codecs you've already got installed. Then reinstall the Vista X64 ones. Should sort it out.
