I've just set up media sharing from my desktop to my laptop and it worked flawlessly, except only for music sharing. For both pictures and video it comes up with "No files have been found in this remote library".

I've made sure all three file types have been ticked and to share all files (not above 2 stars). Anyone have any ideas as to why the videos won't share (as that's really the only reason I want to connect them...)?

Maybe you have moved your music folder from it's default location? AFAIK it will only share the music that is in local drive/users/"your profile"/music. Unless you go into wmp and change the folder that it uses for music to whatever folder your music is on.

Ahh, that culd be the problem then, as my music is in the Music folder, however videos aren't... I'll have to see if moving the films into the videos folder helps (however that will be a real pain :()

There should be a way to just tell your pc that you want it to access your videos from a different folder. Try in wmp settings. I have win7 and can't remember how to do it on Vista. Hang on though, and I'll boot my vista to see how.

Okay here you go:
Open WMP.

click on the little down pointing arrow under library

then go to add to media library

click the circle that says my folder and those others can access, or something to that nature

manually add your video (and whatever else) folder to the list and that should do it for you

here's a pic of the last step. Excuse my writing, it's in mspaint

Let me know if that did it for you. I'm thinking that should though

Yep, that's how it's set up on my desktop, and automatically adds videos and files that are added to those folders, however the videos that are showing in WMP on my desktop won't sync with my laptop. Music is done in exactly the same way, however that syncs.

That's what confuses me.
