Hey up,

I thought vista should be able to address 4gb of ram,

well installed the latest build 5472 on my pc at home and like xp 32bit it can only address 3gb,

:( oh well lol.

Have to say the latest build is a big leap from the beta 2 that was general public release. so a lot of you will be glad to hear when rc1 gets released it is indeed very usable :)

any eta on rc1? I haven't used beta2 much to be honest as my creative card won't work with it, i guess rc1 will have the same problem though, come on creative!

Shamelessly copied from elsewhere:

"Windows addresses 4GB of memory. The upper end of the address space is used for a variety of reserved items -- BIOS shadowing, AGP aperture, I/O addresses, video shadowing, etc. -- and for these reasons systems with 4GB of installed memory never report a full 4GB of available memory. Typically you'll "see" somewhere between 2.75gb and 3.5gb in systems that actually have 4GB installed.

So it doesn't matter what you do, a 32-bit Windows OS isn't going to be able to make full use of 4Gb of physical ram.

eta sometime before the end of the month. There's expected to be an interim release for beta testers (presumably pretty soon ish if they're expecting to get the final RC1 out before september!). As usual, though, MS say 'it'll be out when it's out'.

as above re rc1 release.

I have had no problems with the creative drivers though,

have you been getting them from creative.com??

i am using an audigy 2 with no issues.

i have an audigy ls and there are no drivers listed on the creative website except one for an earlier version of vista which odn't work with beta 2

will the ls work with the 2 drivers??

if so try them, i installed it all last night on my home rig with no issues what so ever.
