What memory tester would you recomend for a beginner to test out RAM on a vista PC.

http://www.memtest86.com/

: while this looks ok to me, i am afraid my mate may find it too hard to do, all i need is a link she can download from and run type of program.

memtest86+ instead

Should be simple enough to download and burn to CD. It runs by itself after you've booted up the PC from the disc so it shouldn't really be a problem for a beginner.

There's http://hcidesign.com/memtest/ if you really want an easy program for Windows. I just use the stress test in OCCT as well as memtest86+ so I've never tried the HCI memtest though.

Cheers mate,

I think she went ahead and bought the 1st one, so i only hope its a bootable CD for her PC and easy to follow, She isnt thick, just not computer savy. But she is learning :)

Memtest86+ is just a "fan" update of Memtest86 anyway, and the +2.11 chipset detection has been imported back into the memtest86 v3.5 build anyway, so there really isnt much between them.

They both work as bootable CD's.

she should have saved herself some dosh and just donwloaded the 3.5 version as an iso from the memtest86.com site and burnt it to cd or you could have as you are only paying to cover the cost of postage and media :D
