Vista / .NET Framework 3.0 sites

I have a feeling that while this stuff is fantastic it wont ever fully replace HTML/CSS. Not everyone runs a uber PC or indeed wants a 3D book / application.

Also it may be cross platform but its still Microsoft technology and there is a whole world out there that has nothing to do with good old MS.

In summary. A Flash "Flash" if you know what i mean.

Is that XP running a Vista skin?

You really need to be running Vista with the desktop compositor turned on to properly experience WPF :)

I suspect it may have something to do with the mahoosive textures that particular WPF application is using. I definately wouldn't begin to assume that all WPF app's are bloated pieces of ****. Explorer in Vista uses WPF extensively - for example.

I can't be bothered with processes and tuning. The benefits are negligible anyway in my experience. I don't mind cutting back a few services that'll never get used, but that's it.

In XP on my setups there is absolutely no difference between tuning and not doing so, so I haven't bothered for years. It's a fruitless exercise in my opinion, and just leads to more time spent than time saved. The only thing 'tuned' recently, is the PerfectDisk installer, which I edited to exclude the services starting automatically.. that's it.

Bear in mind this rig is loaded with everything I own - I don't install as things are needed, I install in bulk, so if I need something, it's ready.

If you need to tune XP on a £2000 rig, something is very wrong.

people just do it to get a small memory footprint and as few processes as possible running, it's not necessity.

A good defrag once a week is all I ever do.

I went to install this on XP pro and it just hangs here. Tried twice, same thing .Any ideas? Notice 2 different setup.exes

Trying to install .Net 3.0 in XP pro. I already have 2.0 installed but I hear that doesn't matter. It's hard to know what to do when something doesn't install. Would like to try it out cos my dad worked for the Brittish Library so want to show him. Help pls!

The skin is called something like 'VistaXP - Glass' or 'VistaWB' it's somewhere on here but I'm at work so can't tell you exactly. I really like the transparency effect, but you have to buy it. It's locked in the demo i think

You need Windowblinds first :p

I had that problem with the install. Are you using the one where it downloads the files or the standalone version? I had to use the ~50mb standalone version in order to get it on my PC.

nice. the animations's a bit slow though. very smooth but...i dont like waiting lol. good thing you can speed it up, or at least you can on some of the pages.
