Vista network discovery keeps switching off

I'm getting really really annoyed with Vista which keeps on switching off network discovery. This means that my shared files and folders are no longer available over the network until I manually turn it back on again. Just now I was streaming Family Guy to the TV downstairs and TWICE it just stopped midway through because my PC had turned off network discovery so the shared folder was no longer available. I have Googled and not found any solution there.

This has only started happening since I installed Parallels and it installed a virtual NIC that shares the main internet connection. Also, this used to happen when I had a second PC connected via the second LAN port on my motherboard, and the main connection set to share the internet connection. Without either of these 2 scenarios, it does not turn itself off. So it seems that when you have a second NIC sharing the internet connection from the first NIC, Network Discovery constantly, randomly, switches itself off.

I'm pretty sure I've nailed the problem on the head, but what I need to know is the solution.

Can anyone tell me what it is?

Thanks,

Michael.
