Vista networking problems

Hey all,

Currently have 2 pc's networked together. One's running Vista, the other Windows Media Centre ( MCE 2005 - not my choice & can't be changed ) Both are connected via cat5 cables to a Netgear router for internet access.

Managed to get both pc's seeing one another over the network eventually and I'm able to browse shared drives, etc.. on either pc with no issues.

The annoying problem is that the Vista pc drops its internet connection whenever you browse to the MCE 2005 pc over the network. The other pc
can still acess the network / internet just fine.

Diagnosing the network connection in Vista reports no problems and the only way to get it back it to reboot. This can get a bit tedious if the network needs to be used on a regular basis.

Anyone have any ideas ? Was hoping someone has experienced this & knew how to fix it.

Try using fixed IP's instead of dynamic

Both systems need to have real logon accounts. (I think they can have the same username/password for simplicity) - Although this is technically a no no security wise, but for a private lan should be fine.
