Vista networking

I've finally got around to putting Vista Ultimate on my notebook.. I managed to find all the latest drivers fine and internet etc. seems to work fine. However I can't seem to get on shares or even ping other computers on my network - am I missing something? Any XP machine I put on my network will find them first time.

Got vista ultimate on my new desktop.

Just made sure the firewalls were setup correctly and the "workgroup" name was the same and it picked up all other pc's first time.

Just tried by IP and that works.. looked at my DNS address and thats correct so I'm stuck :confused:

when i was using it, it took a few hours to be able to see other folders on the network, don't know why...
