Vista tried to install the optional update from Nvidia for the Nvidia nForce Raid driver.

The result was a failed upate install and a broken raid.

This is a mirrored array on the nForce4 controller on a A8N-SLI mobo.

I had to clear a disk in the degraded mirror and rebuild the array.

I'm lucky that I had a mirror - if I had had a striped array I would be totally fubarred.

Just a warning to anybody else - take a image backup first before installing this update.

Well your luckier then me, I couldn't even get Vista to install on my computer using nvraid (raid0). Had to use the Sil3114 controller instead. Question is, how did you do it?

When I loaded the driver when installing, it worked, detected 64GB of hdd space, then pressed next and: "Windows cannot install on selected drive" or some BS like that.

Ive got the A8N-SLI Premium

TBH it just installed !

I have the business version from the action pack so it is an upgrade rather than a OEM/retail version.

I remember, I set up the mirror onto to cleaned disks in the raid bios, then ran the install 'dodge' where you don't enter the serial number, let it install, and *then* run the "upgrade" from within vista (removing the need to put XP on the machine first).

The mirrored raid drivers were just there. I'm surprised that if the stripe works the mirror wouldn't ?
