Vista not detecting my wireless card

Its plugged in etc but its not detected. surely even if its not compatible it should detect it anyway?
Its a buffalo 54mbps PCI

try reseating it in a different slot? if you can get vista to detect, i'm sure using xp drivers will work fine - at least they do with an old asus wifi card that i have.
