Vista - Nvidia and TDR's!

i have vista x64 ultimate and cant get shot of these ******* TDR's!

PC's stable, ran vistas memtest overnight as well as memtest off a cd for 9.5 hours and all clear so not my RAM. no stability probs elsewhere - just TDR's.

removed the drivers (driver cleaner, reboot, safe mode, driver cleaner again, reboot and install each time) and same thing. latest off win updates or nvidias site - no diff.

went back to the 158s and same thing.

is there a way to test the card stability? ram/gpu etc in case the card itself is hosed?

What hard drive do you have? I believe there is a known conflict with the Raptor drives and 8800 series cards.

Apart from that, this TDR issue has being going on since at least March! Nvidia are aware of it and are trying to resolve all the issues apparently. Obviously doesn't help you out though Not sure on the current situation, you may want to check out NZone for more info?

i have a raptor but running in IDE mode, also, i have a7950 GX2 not an 8000 series card

well, messed around with rivatuner tonight and 1st and only thing i did was run the fan manually at 100% continuously. this let me play crysis - no more TDRs since then.

ok might be a little too early to talk but i couldnt play COD4 for 5 mins without one previously.

anyway - the fan noise! OH!MY!GOD!!. i couldnt hear it before but now it could compete with my delta fans! better than TDRs all over the place though

messed around with it again tonight and still no probs. doesnt seem to be a vista issue in my case but a card fault - the fan not running as it should IMO

still plan to RMA it
