Hi all.

I upgraded to Vista last week and love it so far.
The only thing that is really annoying me at the moment is the new style of the Nvidia control panel.
I simply don't know if my GFX settings are using AF & AA.
I go into the nvidia control panel click on "3D settings" and it shows a 3D image with 3 options.
1) Let the 3D application decide.
2) Use the advanced 3D image settings.
3) Use my preference emphasising.

I choose option 2 and change my AA and AF, etc. but when I open a game it doesn't look like AA and AF are enabled at all (all my games do not look as good as they did on XP). I reopen the control panel and all three options are unselected - so I don't know which option it is using.

What has happened to all the other stuff? Like temps, etc, etc, etc.?

ignore - sorry i misread your post

the temp thing is well annoying tho as are the tv out options and being able to have fullscreen video playback on the tv

Sounds like your using an old version of the nVidia drivers, the current 158 drivers have a more traditional control panel.

Allowing you to make more detailed changes

Thanks for the replies.

I have a Dell laptop with a GeForce Go 7900GS GFX card. It's weird because I'm sure when I installed the GFX drivers, I went onto the Nvidia drivers website, chose "GeForce Go 7800/7900 laptops" and I am sure there was Windows Vista listed there, but now it's only XP/2000/Linux
I don't know if the normal drivers will work on my lappy. I will probably uninstall the ones I have now and try and find the latest GFX drivers for my 7900GS.

Well that's pretty stupid that Nvidia don't have any drivers for Go cards on Vista...

I have found a website that has edited INF files, so desktop drivers should work. I will try it out later.

I just installed the 158.18 drivers and I still can't see half the options that I could in XP, including temp display, etc. :(
There are a few more options than the last drivers I had though and at least I can now change AA and AF easier.

Those options are meant to be coming like SLI is meant to be coming for Vista as well.

Now ATI have released the R600 it might push nVidia to pull their finger out and release some good drivers

Do like having the temp display etc in the drivers.....hopefully they will remedy this soon. :)

Arrrg! I have another problem now.
Since installing the new GFX driver with the modded INF, windows update keeps wanting to install the older GFX drivers. It just installed it now and I had to roll back to the newer driver.
Is there a way I can disable that update so it doesn't keep asking to install?

remember the 8800 series doesnt support full screen video mirroring feature....

Major threads on nvidia forums about it....full of complaints of course since ATI still have it.

Hopefully Nvidia release decent Vista drivers soon... I still cant get dual view to work properly.. or TV out!

Have you tried rebooting with the projector on/off?

I got a DVI-HDMI cable last week for use with my 1080p TV.
First time I set it up, it ran great, 1920x1080 on the 2nd display.

Ever since, if I'm in the middle of a Windows session already, and go to enable the second monitor, it only allows me 1080i... checking the resolution gives me 1920x1080 at 30Hz! Nothing higher is available to select.

I can't remember exactly what I did to get it to work again.... either rebooting with the TV already on and tuned to the HDMI socket, or booting Windows with the TV off, and then turning it on just before selecting dual monitors does it... then I can select proper 1080p.

Pretty damned annoying though, but it certainly looks nice when it does work!
I haven't tried the latest May 15th drivers yet, but may do later.

Sorry to be so vague, but if you persevere, you may well get the full res.

Download the latest version of Ntune it has nvmonitor and overclocking as well which works with Vista 64 bit. I am using 160.03 drivers and get about an extra 10 fps out of Stalker, over 158.24.

As V1N has said u might wanna keep at it/try different drivers and check the nvidia forums for overscan/tv out work arounds.

I tried desperatly under Vista 64 ultimate but just couldnt get even TV output to work/ when it did with an older set it was just a fluke/ on restart and it went again/ thats after forcing TVoutput and setting Dual veiw on also.

If you read the nvidia forums anyone posting ATI still supports TV output/aspect ratio as Source and Full screen video mirroring that bit tends to get deleted fast ;)

I only have this issue since I still have a 4.3 old CRT TV set..... Nvidia seem to be only supporting 16.9 screens with LCDs and with DVI/HMDI connectivity.....

Using Vista 64bit Ult. I have tried old driver sets even the really crap ones. I have tried the projector on and off etc.

What does annoy me is the dvi port my Dell is connected to will let me have that option, and yes i did think of swapping them round, the problem is its the primary port on the card so that is the one used in booting if i have another cable in the other socket.

But it will run in 1280x768 which is bareably for filmage but not so good for gaming makes texts look pap.

So i will put up with it and bide my time, if it does **** me off to much, ill just get a cheap ati pci card and do it that way for the projector :)
