As title. I have business OEM but my motherboard died, and I now have a different brand one (the asus P5Q). I have built the machine and it posts but no hard drives are yet connected....

Will windows even let me log in?? I am asuming it will come up with some liscensing errors now??

Thanks:)

It'll ask you to reactivate, in which case explain your situation to the MS CS rep. If they give you any hassle let me know :)

Did this with my F-I90HD and my P5K-VM (yes i've been quite unlucky with failures over the past year).

Phoned Microsoft and they reactivated me fine, although the second time it took 3 phone calls before I got a rep who could understand what I was saying.

Will it still allow me the 30day period - as in can I backup all my files if need be??

I only have the code as it was from the univeristy site thing, rather than over the counter buying it.

Happened to me today! Built a new PC for a relative and activated Windows but a while later the Mobo had problems and i had to replace it (Different brand / model). Had to phone up and put in a long list of numbers. All worked ok then!

It'll probably have a three day grace period. You'll probably need to phone up and explain about your MSDN:AA licence.
