If windows was not activated it would automatically prevent you from using it anyway so a court might not see it that way.

If the system has been crippled due to non activation and microsoft activate it, they will be making the system useable again which is not simply not preventing you from using it.

Do you want this in black and white from MS? Or even then are you not going to listen?

This argument again. Think i've read about 20 different versions of this on here

The way I see it - I bought Home Premium for my main computer, then decided I wanted Ultimate. So I gave Home Premium to my mum for her laptop. A Completely different computer. Microsoft re-activiated Home Premium no problem.

Do I have morals? Yes I have morals. But like the majority of people on the planet, if I can see an oportunity I will take it. I paid 80 quid for Home Premium, used it on my computer for 3 days. I am hardly going to discard that licence key when I knew full well I could get it activated again.

In my eyes, MS re-activated the software so as far as I am concerned I am all above board. This doesn't mean I am disrespectful to MS - I just refuse to pay more than double for retail then OEM.

whats with all this "high horse" rubbish.

burnsey is stating the facts of the case, i.e that just because a representative from MS gives a new code doesnt mean that MS actually condone this action. and that it is infact illegal.

he isnt passing judgement on your character - which could be construed as the "high horse."

so why not read and listen to what he is saying before jumping in with these quips?

Its still illegal and you can not dispute that.

Although it will work perfectly fine and Microsoft are almost certainly unlikely to care in the slightest.

They are more worried about piracy than minor licence infringement, although it still does not make it legal to do which is the point some people argue.

This is going around in circles and we have come to a minor conclusion so I think its time to put this thread to bed. :)
