Guys,
I want to run ESX server on my current hardware (in sig). I want to take my existing version of Vista Ultimate (full retail) and run it as one of the VM's. Will there be any windows activation issues with me doing this? Since the hardware is abstracted by the ESX code, I fear it will be problems. Would 64 bit vista work like this?

Also, I know you can get ESX to load a paricular OS on boot up. Lets say I did this so it loaded Vista. Could I then drop out of Vista back into the ESX hypervisor and start other VMs? I'd then have a useful one box solution for getting VM's up and runing for my MCSE learning.

Regards, Steve

why esx? you don't install that onto a machine that you'll be sat on using day to day......

get vmware workstation or the free vmware server instead. :)

I would think there would be issues too as you are only licensed for one install of vista concurrently even if it's on the same hardware.
