Just put vista on for the first time, 32bit.. running it for 30 days if I like it i'll keep it..

It seems to have overclocking, my core 2 duo extreme was perfectly happy at 3.8Ghz in XP, in vista it just hangs everytime I try to run a game, even if I turn it down to 3.60 or 3.50 or even 3.40 it just hangs.. Its ok if I run at stock 2.93, but the games are really slow, lots slower than they were under XP.. :(

Is anyone bothering with performance boxes with vista, if so, give me some tips!

How stable was it in XP? What stress programs did you use to find out the stability of the clock ?

Prime 95, pifast, all the normal stuff.. on XP it was rock solid, im running full watercooling, max temp is around 55 on full load @ 1.5v

Vista everything is just crap, i've had to turn it down to stock speed in order to stop supreme commander from crashing on loading...

I've had this exact thing happen to me! I was dead stable at 3.6ghz with my E6600 in XP. Everytime I boot into Vista at that speed, it tells me to activate! At 3.2-3.4ghz its fine. I also noticed using TAT, that it hotter at IDLE and Load than XP by about 4 degrees.

It appears that a lot of resource is comsumed in the background.
