Vista: PDF reader?

Does anyone know of a PDF reader that will run in Vista?

Acrobat v8 won't install.

fwiw I downloaded Acrobat Reader 8 yesterday and installed in Vista without a hitch.

Have you tried running Acrobat Reader either as the administrator or in XP compatibility mode?

I followed Pdogs link & also this support page:

It seems that the issue is my turning off UAC which then turns off access to the temp directory. :rolleyes:

Adobe v8 installed!

I didn't want Foxit as I understand there there are issues between Foxit & Firefox.

On ultimate x64 Acrobat Reader 8 installed fine and works perfectly.

Yeah you need a work around if you run without UAC turned on. I discovered this myself and it was the point I turned UAC back on

Agreed with that, doesnt hang on opening a PDF link in Firefox for a start which is always nice. Plus it installed on Vista with no malarky either

What exectly does that mean - that turning off stupid utilty that prevents various programs from using temp directory (winrar issues and such with UAC turned on) in fact... disables access to temp directory for all??? :eek:

Thanks to this thread though, now I can look at pdf's in firefox - foxit just downloads them for some reason.

I get the impression there is a version of 8 specifically for vista, try www.adobe.com to be sure

Sure, it works fine. It just doesn't install fine - hence the reason this thread exists

It also installed fine too, well on mine it did.
