Vista Photo Gallery Viewer - Colour Banding

Hi

I have noticed using the Windows Vista Photo Gallery Viewer there is colour banding.

I thought it was my photo'sr my monitor but when using another viewer it's not evident.

This is awful. Whats the point of a photo veiwer that ruins the images!

Anyone else noticed this or have a fix?

i have a bit of a wierd one similar to this , windows vista picture and fax viewer opens and displays images but the colours are all messed up

looks like they are really really dark

It's very subtle but noticable in certain area's.

obviously I had to compress them a lot so I applied the same amount of compression to each.

You can always download the original image and look at that in vista photo gallery viewer and something else.

It's hard to show it well as photobucket shrinks and compresses the images as well.

You'll notice it more in the dark areas at the sides of the picture.

ie the colour graduation on the leaves.

Why does it do this, to fake a faster loading time?
